Extra tickets Defiant Requiem

18 november 2021

Tickets are available again for the special concert -drama Defiant Requiem, which was originally to be performed on 3 May 2020 as part of the national celebration of 75 years of freedom, but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 measures. The performance is now set for 12 December, and NOS (Dutch Broadcast Foundation) will broadcast it semi-live on NPO2 that evening from 22.05.

Defiant Requiem tells the story of conductor Rafael Schächter and his choir members, who performed Verdi's Requiem as an act of resistance against the Nazis. This impressive and one-off performance presents the Requiem by Verdi, interspersed with video fragments of interviews with survivors, theatrical monologues and historical film footage of Theresienstadt. Performers are the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands in collaboration with the Nederlands Concertkoor (Netherlands Concert Choir) and several soloists, led by conductor and creator of the Defiant Requiem Murry Sidlin.

The concert was sold out for a long time, but tickets have become available again because many visitors from abroad unfortunately will not be able to attend. Tickets for both the concert and the dress rehearsal in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam and a film screening the next day in the Royal Theater Tuschinski are on sale via the events calendar.
